Diesel engines and heavy trucks need different tools, parts and training than passenger cars, and many shops turn them away. Every shop here names diesel, semi, heavy-duty or commercial truck work in its business name, listing or on its own website — a shop that services “cars, trucks and SUVs” is not enough.

Good to know
Do I need a diesel specialist for my pickup?
Most shops can handle routine maintenance, but fuel injection, turbochargers, diesel emissions systems (DPF, DEF, EGR) and engine repairs are best done by a shop that works on diesels every day.
Where can I get a DOT inspection?
Commercial truck shops and some diesel repair shops perform annual DOT inspections with a qualified inspector. Call ahead — not every truck shop offers them.
