Is a mobile mechanic cheaper than a shop?
The labor rate is often similar or lower because there is no shop to run, but many mobile mechanics add a trip fee. For routine jobs the total is usually comparable, and you save the trip to the shop.
What can’t a mobile mechanic fix?
Work that needs a vehicle lift or heavy equipment — transmission rebuilds, major engine repairs, wheel alignments and most body work — is usually done in a shop.
