Ask for a leak test before a recharge. If the system is low on refrigerant, it leaked out somewhere, and topping it up without finding the leak means paying again. Newer cars use R-1234yf refrigerant, which costs more than the older R-134a — ask which one your car takes.

Why is my car A/C blowing hot air?

Common causes are low refrigerant from a leak, a failed compressor or clutch, a blocked condenser, or a blown fuse or relay. A shop finds the cause with a pressure test and a leak check.
